Damn. What a story. Left me speechless and also crying. Bravo, Garrett! I love the transitions. You make your work so cinematic and experiential.

Damn. That is…exactly…what a girl’s life in a small rural town can be. The anger, yes. The self-destructiveness, yes. The hopelessness, yes. The death of anything soft. God. I grew up there. Sensational writing.

Wow, thank you so much, Liz -- for reading and for your kind words. I grew up in a small rural town as well, and it brings me a lot of relief to hear that my experiences might not have been so unique, if that makes sense. I'm looking forward to checking out your work!

Man, exceptional writing and story, Garrett. Visceral, intense, I'm left a little reeling (in a good way). It's no easy feat to bring this kind of experience to life so clearly on the page. 👏

Thanks for reading, Nathan, and for the very kind words! It's an intense one, for sure -- between this one and "Flask," I've just about given myself an ulcer worrying about how the words'll be received, so it's great to hear that they've landed. Hope you're well this week and continuing to recover!

Thanks Garrett. I’m healing up pretty well, thanks.

Intense is good. Don’t hold back, in my opinion. I think there’s many of us who are drawn to dark stuff in literature, for many reasons.
